Statement of intent
My Chosen theme is texture, I will start by taking pictures of the outside textures and inside textures both manmade and natural. If it becomes lockdown and I have to isolate then it will be difficult to take photographs of the outside textures in different locations.
My Research would be to find out more about the photographers who capture manmade texture outside who have more in sight about how to capture texture in a abstract way e.g. Lucy Shires she is a photographer who takes photos of manmade textures that you would not notice what the object is as she takes the images in at different angles and in an abstract way. I would also find out how the photographers would use angles and how they have created a interesting final look for their photos.
My Photoshoot to begin with would be to focus on manmade textures and natural textures because I want my work to show that I have been inspired by Edward Weston. Edward Weston loved to take photographs of natural textures e.g shells and swans.
I would research Lucy Shires and Edward Weston because Edward Weston is all about natural textures and Lucy Shires is artificial or Manmade texture this will allow me to have a contrast in my work. I will create my work in a similar style to give a fascinating and interesting finish.
The techniques I will use will be to have my camera on manual settings allowing myself to change the setting depending on how and where I am taking the the photograph. For example I will have to change my ISO, white balance and anything depending on the daylight. Also if my images are not that good I could use Photopea or Photoshop to edit the photo improve the final outcome.
I want to learn ways in which I can edit my photos using Photopia or Photoshop. This way I will be able to show how I have analysed the work of the photographers and used their inspiration to develop my images and be able to create a contrasting response to texture using man made and natural.
My final Images will be edits using Photoshop as this will allow me to make my photos look more professional. For example Edward Weston work is black and white. I will have to edit my photos on Photoshop as I will take my photos using the camera in colour as I can not change black and white to colour but I can change colour to black and white using Photoshop. I will make black and and white edits and using the contrast tool to create the tones I need. I will then use a different approach when working in the style of Lucy shires.
I will continue to improve my Photoshop skills through my project as this will help refine my work and create the standard I want.

The C'est Pas Du Luxe is a specific apple created by Roe Ethridge. The image has wasps on the apples in the foreground. The photographer called the work C'est Pas Du Luxe which is a French phrase that means “to have much more that is wasted". I think the C'est Pas Du Luxe is a still life image. The work represents how The C'est Pas Du Luxe was created and how the angle was pointed when taking the image.
I think this piece is about greed within society, how some people have so much food and personal belonging that waste so much, while others have very little. I think this image is realistic because the C'est Pas Du Luxe is something that we eat and it is a real life object and to me it is something that hasn't been edited in Photoshop as it is a real life image.
Composition
It has a central focus point of the apples in the foreground. The photographer hasn't taken the image from above or a low view, It's a middle view. I think this image has strong leading lines because it has a line of symmetry from the table running across the middle of the image making the space equal on both side. In my opinion I think that the depth of field is small because the background is out of focus drawing our eyes to the foreground and middle. There is a distance because the C'est Pas Du Luxe is a bit far from the end of the table. The colors of the small wasps are contrasting to the apples that are the focus of the photograph. The C'est Pas Du Luxe uses complimentary colors because the red makes the green stand out and the green helps the red stand out more. I think photographer might have used a tripod as the image is classed as a still image.
Connection
I don't like this image because I feel uncomfortable with the wasps and they might also have left bacteria. I want to shoot photographs of fruits like the C'est Pas Du Luxe by Roe Ethridge. Roe Ethridge made his apples closer to the foreground and this inspired me to shoot mine in the middle and foreground. C'est Pas Du Luxe has a white balance of brightness which I need to play around with in my own photographs. I want my image to have a more diffuse spotlight and compared to the C'est Pas Du Luxe has a bright spotlight.
Comment
What I have learnt from Roe Ethridge is that I could use a small f/stop to create a background that is not in focus. This makes me look at the apple first. I will use this for further shoots. In my future shoots I will make sure too do my shoots which focuses on the middleground and to make it more in focus then the background out of focus to make it more contrasting in my work and to make it better.

Analysis 2 Edward Weston
Context
Edward Weston is a professional photographer. He took this photograph Shells in his studio in Glendale, California, in 1927. When he was 16, he had received a gift of a camera. Weston created Shells after his return to America from two extended stays in Mexico between 1923 and 1927. He was inspired by works such as Shells, in 1932 Weston’s apprentice Willard Van Dyke and fellow photographer Ansel Adams formed Group of a higher of F.stop. The work was made for people who like shells. This photograph inspired other photographers to use Weston's use of tone and shape. Edward Weston's father was a medical doctor Edward Weston was born in march 24 1886 he died in January the 1st 1958. All of his work was impressive and everyone was influenced by generations of American photographers whose techniques were used as tone and shading and the composition of the image.
Content
Edward Weston's Shells is a close up still life picture of two shells and is in black and white. The angle of the shell is a side angle, which is unrecognizable at first. Shells represent Weston ideas about pure photography and simple compositions. Shell is a realistic image because it is a photograph of a shell from an unusual angle. This image has been distorted because Edward Weston “Manipulated Photography Before Photoshop”. The theme of the shells would be simplicity because of Weston's style of Pure photography with his Group F/64 .

Composition
The Shell image is in the center of the page framed by a background of total blackness.
The image would draw the viewer's focus on the shell in the middle ground because it is white and it goes into the black that makes a contrast into the background. The ISO setting that Weston may have used is 400 the setting of ISO is to make it more interesting and more fascinating because it is clear and you can see visual noise. It is interesting and fascinating because it has a darker texture then a brighter texture. The shutter speed I think would have been a quick one 1/1000 because it makes less light come in. The Aperture for this image has a short depth of field possibly an F/4 The white balance is a higher one because the image is shady and the texture is dark. The photographer may have used a tripod because it is an image of a still life this keeps the camera still incase the photographer has shaky hands and also the hint is that it is a still life image. Also in the white balance Edward Weston may have used Fluorescent light and tungsten to light because of the dark texture he uses for his background of the photo he takes. Also there are shines on his images because of the light showing in the foreground of the image and the midground.
Connection
I like Edward Weston's images because its has a contrasting use of tone and I like his white balance and ISO and his aperture because it exaggerates change of tone. The difference between my work and his is that he uses a tripod and I don't.
Comment
I have learnt from Edward Weston that his shells are unique and has a good contrast in his photograph. They are unique because in my opinion I think that he has a good aim and angle at what photo he is about to take. Also they have a good contrast because his shells have a good shade of light from the top to the middle. I think Edward Weston has helped me a lot because he has a good aim and angle at his photos and I could use this approach for my further shoots. This will help me improve my shoots and if I will use a tripod as this will help my shoots not to go out of focus and prevent camera shake.
After researching Edward Weston I discovered how he created his photographs and his techniques. He used a large format camera which allowed him to create an extremely narrow depth-of-field. He used his own F/64 it has an extremely small lens opening. Edward Weston doesn't use a digital camera but he uses a film camera, he develops his photos in a darkroom using chemicals which is what I found interesting when doing my research.

Plans For Shoots
I’m going to take photographs outside of man-made textures,I will also have to explore the environment around me to find man-made objects for my outdoor shoots. I could use use a macro lens to focus on details on metal railing, brick work, and concrete to show the textures on these objects. I’ll make sure I take pictures of images which follow the rules of third and leading lines to create a nice composition in my photographs.
Railings and metal bars will create nice vertical and horizontal leading lines. Bricks and concrete paving will create nice shapes.

Plans For Shoots
In my photo shoot I think I will need bright papers to cover the outside and have a better background I will also need fruit and veg to make patterns I think Annabelle Breakey has a brighter texture and tone then Edward Weston and I think Annabelle Breakey will need a bit darker ISO so it isn't too bright and White Balance would be not a bright one because her background Is also bright and her light has been controlled In her studio.
In My photo shoot I think I will need a dark background texture because Edward Weston has a tone of Black and white. Also he has a contrast that the light touches the middle of the swan and shell. I will also need my white balance as fluorescent light to have a better Shot for my image if its a darker background it will make my images more interesting because of the contrast from the foreground to middle ground. I will need to do my photo shoot outside because Edward Weston does his pictures of shells and swans outside.
